Over here: At the linksys forum, user Tpaquette recently posted a gem that enabled me to get my macbook (running 10.5.1) to print to my HP 6110 all in one wirelessly over the network using the gutenprint drivers included with the OS. I thought I'd echo the post over here so that more folks could benefit from it, but perhaps if it works for you, you could go to the linksys thread and add a reply with your printer model to the growing list of those that this works with. Cheers, Ethan - From: Tpaquette I've spent far too many hours trying to get this to work for me not to share it with all of you frustrated Vista/OS X users out there.

The instructions that I've laid out here is from my Canon MP830 printer install. I believe the steps/process should work for any printer that you can find a CUPS driver for. I'm runing Vista Home Premium, Vista Ultimate and Mac OS X 10.4.10 just in case anyone wants to know what clients I have setup to access the PSUS4. So here's is what you need to do to get a mixed environment configured for printing. Setup your Vista and XP clients using the setup wizard on the CD that came with the print server. Pretty straight forward, you should have no problems. To setup the Mac, you will need to setup a static IP address on the Print Server.

To do this log onto your printserver from your browser. Under the Protocol, TCP/IP tab, input an IP address of your printserver, the subnet and gateway (see example) I used the following IP Address IP Address. 192.168.1.106 Subnet Mask. 255.255.255.0 Gateway.192.168.1.1 Save your settings.

Download the Gutenprint 5.1.3 drivers for OS X and install on your Mac running OSX. Using the Printer Setup Utility in OS X, select the 'Plus sign' to add a printer. Click on the IP Printer Icon to bring up the IP settings.

Select LPD for your protocol, enter the IP address of the print server from above, name your queue 'LP'. Under Name, enter the name of the printer, under location, provide a location (optional) and under Print Using, select Canon and you will then see all the print drivers that you installed back in step 3. Select the Canon Pixma MP830-CUPS+Gutenprint v5.1.3 driver or any other Printer Manufacture/Model that you need. Once you complete step 6, you should have a new printer added to your list of printers and you should be able to print. I've only tested this for my MP830 and I'm assuming that the process will work for other printers. If you try this and it works, let others know.

I have two desktop Macs. The primary one is connected to the internet via ethernet thru a wireless Linksys router.

The printer, an HP 1210xi is connected via a USB hub to the primary computer. The secondary computer is connected to the internet via the wireless part of the router. I'd like to share the printer so that the secondary one can use it without the primary one being on. I hope my setup is clear.

The problem is that the Linksys PSUS4 PrintServer has a Windows only setup CD and there isn't any Mac setup info on the Linksys website (at least none that I could find. I've emailed Linksys support but I probably won't hear back till after the holiday and I'd like to get it up and running before then.

I have the printer connected to the PrintServer and an ethernet cable connected to the router. The router is set to automatically assign an IP and the PrintServer is supposed to have DCHP enabled as it's default. If I can't successfully use the PrintServer, how do I setup my primary computer to be used as a printserver for the secondary one? The primary computer is running OS 10.3.7 and the secondary one is running OS 10.3.9. I have two desktop Macs. Their stuff can usually be made to work, but they don't support Macs. I don't know that particular device, so I can't help with the print server except to check the readme for info on the default IP address, admin username and password.

If it is like other Linksys products, there will be a web page built into it which can be accessed by any browser, including Mac browsers such as Safari. You can set up most things from there on most Linksys devices. Maybe it'll work with this one. The primary computer is running OS 10.3.7 and the secondary one is running OS 10.3.9. 1 turn on printer sharing in the Sharing pane of System Preferences. 2 install the GIMP-Print drivers for your printer using Printer Setup Utility. (HP's native drivers stink, and don't usually support sharing anyway. GIMP-Print delivers PostScript printing, so it's slower than the native drivers, but it's better. And it supports sharing.) 3 go to the other computer and select the shared printer. You might have to install the GIMP-Print drivers on that computer, as well.

It depends on the printer. I have two desktop Macs.

Yeah I know but I've never had any problems with their routers and they've always been a piece of cake to configure. Certainly a hell of a lot easier than the Windows instructions. Unfortunately, there is no web-based config and they don't give you the default ip address of the PrintServer. That has to be retrieved from the installer CD. There is a Mac folder inside the Unsupportedapps folder but the instructions are in a format that is unintelligible no matter what I try.
